Social Media Star Alysha Burney Dies at 24 During Her Vacation in Mexico

In addition to reports having disclosed details surrounding the passing of Alysha Burna, the social media stars brother has also spoken out about her passing and a friend has dedicated a tribute to her online.

The family of Alysha Burney, a rising social media personality from Kansas City, is grieving her sudden passing. The 24-year-old, known for her viral content on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, died in her sleep on March 2, 2025, while vacationing in Cabo San Lucas. Her death came just one day before her 25th birthday.

Before the social media stars passing, Alysha had amassed over 5 million followers across platforms, captivating audiences with her creativity and humor. Beyond social media, she was a budding filmmaker and the owner of ABurneyProductions, a production company that had already produced a movie and had future plans for several projects.

Her brother, Charles Burney, was with her at the time of her passing and revealed that she died from an asthma attack in her sleep.

He also spoke out against false rumors circulating online regarding her death, emphasizing that she did not engage in substance use and was in Mexico simply to celebrate her birthday.

“Alysha was very goal-oriented, creative, and passionate about giving back,” Charles shared, highlighting that she held a degree in Digital Media Production and was pursuing graduate studies.

Alyshas filmmaking journey included works such as “Shiesty, Shiesty II,” “Lost Angeles,” and her latest project, “Hot Girl Get Away,” all available on her YouTube channel. At just 19, she was invited to audition for “Wild N Out,” which was an experience that fueled her ambition.

Her ultimate dream was to become a director and writer and open a production studio in Kansas City, aiming to uplift young creatives in her hometown.

“She was not selfish with her knowledge and was a very open book about her journey. She will always be dearly loved, and her legacy will live on forever,” noted her bereaved brother.
